The morning program runs 5 days a week from 8:30am to Noon.
At Oceanside Montessori School we believe that young children are capable of amazing learning.
During the first three hours of the morning, children are free to explore the classroom materials and interact freely with the staff and classroom community.
The Primary Program is a three year program which begins when the child is three years old and is completed after the vital third year - the Master year (Kindergarten equivelent).

The third year of the Primary Program is the vital Master Year (Kindergarten equivalent). It is the culmination of the child's learning from the previous two years. By the time the child is five years old they are ready to lead their fellow school mates by modelling peaceful behaviour and sharing knowledge with their younger classmates.
It is essential that parents understand the importance of completing the three year Montessori program. All three years must be completed for a child to maximize their potential from our Montessori programs. To protect the integrity of our Montessori primary programs, 4 and 5 year old children without previous Montessori experience cannot be accepted.
Children are free to choose their work, individually or as a group, and to work as long as they may need to master a skill. In this way, curriculum becomes unique to each child, satisfying their needs as they become ready.
Before playground time, we come together as a group and sing, dance, or tell stories exploring movement and rhythm. We discuss topics that may be of interest to the children.
The children work and play outside everyday in our beautiful and ever-changing playground and gardens.
Maria Montessori envisioned a classroom as a "Children's House". In every way, the classroom assists the child in finding their independence - from child sized tables and chairs, to sinks and shelves (even toilets) at their size and height. Children choose their own activities and put them away when finished. They prepare and serve snacks. They teach their friends newly mastered concepts. Children explore, discover, play and pretend, while learning skills for life. While learning to work together they form deep social relationships with one another.
At Oceanside Montessori School we help children to discover their unique talents and gifts.
In order to take advantage of a good education they must discover their innate ability to think logically, solve problems, and learn. They need to develop a strong sense of order, self-respect, and responsibility.
